Spotlight John Fellon!
Boise Basin Corvairs Club
I would first like to thank Roland Martin of Seattle, Washington for all of his help and knowledge that made all of this
possible.
I bought my first Corvair in 1966. It was a 1961 Monza 900 Coupe with an automatic transmission. It was fawn beige
with a fawn beige interior.
After years of neglect and just sitting in storage, this is what it looked like.
In 1991 I decided to restore it. After taking everything off of it inside and out, I drove it to the body shop sitting on a plastic
milk crate. The car had no glass in it. So I drove it wearing a pair of goggles, to keep the wind out of my eyes. A year later
the painting was done – black on black.
I drove it from there to a storage unit sitting on that same milk crate. There it sat in storage till 1996. I was house sitting
on and off at the time for some friends. They said I could put it in their fourth bay and work on it.
By early 2000 I had the interior and exterior back together, but still had not touched the underneath. I then entered it in its
first car show, The Discontinued and Orphan Car Show and Picnic, July 9. 2000 in Covington, Washington.
BRAGS
Between 2000 and 2008 the car has won 14 first places and 2 Best of Shows.
CORSA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTIONS
Flagstaff, Arizona in June 2002 the car received 91.56 points which earned it a silver plaque.
After the convention I completely worked over the underneath of the car.
Portland, Oregon in June 2005 the car received 95.08 points which earned it gold plaque and placed it in the Senior
Division.
Ventura, California in June 2008 the car received 97.0 points which earned it another gold plaque still placing it in the
Senior Division.
